How does a tap tempo counter work?

It records the time of each tap and averages the gaps between consecutive taps. The average interval in milliseconds is divided into 60000 to give beats per minute, so more taps produce a steadier reading.

Why did my count reset?

The window resets automatically after a pause of more than two seconds so a fresh measurement is not skewed by your previous taps. You can also press Reset at any time.

Does it use my microphone?

No — it only times your taps. No microphone, audio or network access is involved; everything stays in your browser.
