Mbps to MB/s Converter
Internet plans are advertised in megabits per second (Mbps), but your browser and file manager report downloads in megabytes per second (MB/s). The two differ by a factor of eight:
MB/s = Mbps ÷ 8 (because 1 byte = 8 bits)
So a 100 Mbps line tops out at 12.5 MB/s of actual file throughput, and a 1 Gbps line at 125 MB/s. Enter a value in either unit and the converter does the bit-to-byte maths instantly — all locally in your browser, with nothing sent anywhere.
