How is dividend yield calculated?

Dividend yield is the total annual dividend per share divided by the current share price, shown as a percentage. If a share costs 50 and pays 2 a year, the yield is 4%.

What does payment frequency change?

It converts the per-payment dividend into an annual figure. A quarterly dividend is multiplied by four, a monthly one by twelve, so the yield and income reflect the full year.
